ShapeScale Update - July 2024

ShapeScale Update - July 2024

We're thrilled to share some new exciting ShapeScale updates! This latest release of the ShapeScale app introduces one major features and several smaller improvements designed to enhance both your and your clients' ShapeScale experience, making it more seamless than ever. Let's dive into what these new features offer!

New Features & Improvements

Client Progress Reports

We are delighted to introduce one of our most anticipated features: PDF reports, now available on the ShapeScale app. With just a click, you can generate a comprehensive PDF report of your client’s scans and all their measurements. Additionally, you have the option to personalize these reports with your own notes.

Simply select the scan(s) you wish to include, add your insights, and the app will generate the report in about a minute. Once ready, you can easily share it with your patients in the way that suits them best—whether that's via email, AirDrop, or a printed copy for those looking to hold the report in their hands.

These PDF reports also offer a valuable tool for discussing results with your patients in person, providing a tangible reference that can help facilitate more in-depth conversations about their progress and health strategies. Furthermore, they provide a great solution for those who do not have Apple devices.

Other Usability Improvements

In addition to client progress reports, we've launched 7 new App Store releases, featuring several improvements:

  • Improved Scan syncing: Experience faster and more reliable syncing of your clients latest scans.
  • Enhanced Navigation: Easily return to the main dashboard with a simple double-tap on the tab bar.
  • Streamlined QR Code Scanning: Enjoy a seamless process when initiating scans using QR codes.
  • Crash Fixes: We addressed issues related to WiFi connectivity and demo accounts to ensure heightened stability.
  • General Improvements: Implemented a range of enhancements and fixes aimed at boosting app stability, security, and user satisfaction.

New Body Fat Algorithm

We've launched an improved body fat algorithm, now available in your ShapeScale app. Our latest algorithm, powered by advanced deep learning AI, outperforms the previous version by approximately 20% in real-world conditions.

On average, you can expect ShapeScale's body fat percentage measurements to be within ±2.8% of DXA scans, compared to ±3.4% with the old algorithm. This translates to 67% of measurements within ±3.5% and 95% within ±6.9% of DXA scans.

You may have noticed minor variances in body fat percentages earlier this week while we fine-tuned the algorithm. Rest assured, the update is now fully optimized, delivering reliable precision to support your clients' health and fitness goals.

Production Update

Last month, we received the first 100 mass-produced ShapeScales, which have been delivered to new business clients, doubling our national footprint. Another 100 units are arriving this week with only a handful still available for purchase. So if you’d like to secure one, act fast because our subsequent batch will only be available at the end of summer!

Ambassador Program

We have successfully launched our ambassador referral program, which is now open for signup. For each referral, you will earn 20% commission on payouts for two years, potentially netting up to $2K per full-price purchase or $1K per lease.

Coming Soon

Managed Accounts

Coming next: ShapeScale’s managed accounts feature to streamline client oversight. Soon, you'll be able to create and manage client profiles without any action required from your clients. This feature will allow you to conduct initial scans and input data directly on their behalf.

You'll have the flexibility to choose between full account management or granting clients access to view their results in the app. Opting for full account management grants you precise control over client data visibility. You can customize which metrics your clients get to see, creating a professionally curated experience.

For sharing progress, you will be able to use our new PDF reports or enable in-app result viewing. This new feature streamlines your workflow, enabling a concierge-style experience where clients can use ShapeScale without downloading the app. It also seamlessly accommodates non-Apple users. The result: an enhanced, more convenient ShapeScale experience for both you and your clients.

Advanced Body Composition

We're thrilled to announce that in just a few weeks, we'll be introducing a suite of advanced body composition metrics to enhance your ability to track and analyze your clients' health and fitness progress with unparalleled precision.

Lean Mass

We're adding a dedicated lean mass metric in our next release. While users could previously calculate this using ShapeScale's body fat percentage, we're now making it a prominent, publicly available feature. Lean mass, representing total weight minus bone and fat, offers a comprehensive view of muscle mass and body composition and therefore, will be especially useful for medical weight loss programs tracking muscle retention.

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)

We're also adding Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) measurements. BMR shows calories burned at rest, crucial for customizing nutrition plans. This will help you tailor clients' diets to their specific goals, whether for weight loss, muscle gain, or general health.

Visceral Fat Index

Another metrics we are introducing is Visceral Adipose Tissue (VAT) measurements, showing fat around abdominal organs. High VAT levels link to serious health risks like diabetes and cardiovascular disease, hence its a crucial metric to track. ShapeScale will display VAT in ranges from < 1 lb to > 2.6 lbs, helping you assess client health risks and guide interventions.

Appendicular Lean Mass (ALM) - Coming in Q4

By year-end, we aim to introduce Appendicular Lean Mass (ALM) measurements. ALM focuses on arm and leg muscles, offering a more precise indicator of muscle mass and function than total lean mass. It's crucial for assessing mobility, strength, and even bone density. ALM will help you evaluate clients' musculoskeletal health, identify risks like sarcopenia and osteoporosis, and develop targeted interventions for muscle and bone strength.
